Persea — Chapter 1

And then there was a handsome young man, named Joe Carr, whom I actually got along with pretty well…at first. I wasn’t entirely pleased with his chosen attire for the date. I, of course, had requested from Camryn a man with some class; and Joe shows up for our luncheon in jeans and a sweatshirt. That would have been fine for a trip to the bowling alley, but he knew that I had made reservations at Bernard’s Botannical Dining. So I was not pleased about that. But we went and had a nice lunch at the Botannicals, which really is a beautiful place. Joe was pleasant enough, but we seem to be from two completely different worlds and decided not to have a second date.

But enough about me. Let me tell you about my son! Oh, I am the proudest mother in all the world. My son, Ciro, is a budding entrepreneur. We had a family restaurant back in Iran and it was the hot spot of the rich and famous. After losing all of our money in the stock market crash, we moved here to Central City. Ciro was determined to build our restaurant again…and he has done just that! Upon arriving to Central City, Ciro met a man named Reginald Parsons. Mr. Parsons seems to be overflowing with money, and it is very reminiscent of how my Phineas was back in Iran! Anyway, Ciro befriended Mr. Parsons and got him to be a sponsor for our restaurant! Therefore, Ciro got enough money to bring Londoste back in all its glory! It has just had its grand opening and already we are seeing a nice profit.

But there is one thing I am worrying about regarding Ciro. He has become rather close with Blanche Parsons, who happens to be the wife of Mr. Reginald Parsons. Ciro insists that they are just friends, but I am his mother….and I know when my son is lying. I often see them chatting out in the yard in the early mornings, when Mr. Parsons is sure to be at work. Although I do not know what his job is, I do know that he works primarily in the middle of the night to the early mornings. It seems to be an odd work schedule if you ask me, and I just may investigate further into his profession. I do see him in the company of Kin Akunaga occasionally; and I have always said that Kin always looks like he’s up to no good. But I digress. I will also keep my eyes on Ciro and this Mrs. Parsons. I do not want my son digging himself an early grave.

  4. Ooh, I like this family, and I think it’s cool that Darice is fond of traditions. She’s a good caretaker for her lovely family, and she looks so classy. :-) Wonderfully-written update — all of the national details and insight of the narrator make for a very enjoyable read. I hope you’re having as much fun playing as we’re having reading your stories! :-D
