Persea — Chapter 1

And my grandchildren, you ask? Oh my, they are the most darling young girls and a very handsome new baby grandson as well. But I will tell you about the girls first! Kira and Lilac are my Persian princesses! They are so smart and they have adjusted to America quite well. They both picked up the new language (English) quite easily. Much more smoother than myself and Phineas did. And both girls still speak our native language of Farsi. Lilac, the youngest daughter of my Ciro, still goes around the house singing the old national anthem of our home, Sorood-e Jomhoori-e Eslami. It was the last thing she learned at her schooling back in Iran, and she makes sure she won’t forget it by singing it every chance she gets. She really is a darling. And Kira, well she’s a teenager. Quite adventurous and outgoing, she is. She’s already been on about 15 dates since arriving here. It wouldn’t surprise me if she goes on 50 by the time she’s an adult! My, how she loves to have fun! And both girls are quite close to each other as well, which makes their dear old grandma smile.

But, it is my daughter, Azura, that I really want to tell you about. I used to be so worried about that girl. She is two years younger than my Ciro, but has never been married, nor has she ever been in a serious relationship with a man. It seems she’s always got her nose in a book, or learning some kind of new skill. I honestly thought that she would never get married or have a family of her own. Then one day, she announced that she was seeing someone! Even though I was not pleased with whom she was seeing, I was just happy that she finally was in love! Her new love happened to be the new host for our restaurant. His name is Tucker Trimble, and I do not want to shock you, but he is only a year younger than I am! Yes, I was just as surprised as you are! This does not make me happy at all, and I tried telling Azura that she will be a widow for a very long time, but she says she loves him and it is worth it.

Even my Ciro, was shocked at this match. Phineas, as always, was supportive of his daughter. But my Ciro, he was not as happy. For weeks he told Azura of his disapproval, and I was really beginning to worry that this would cause a rift in my family. But alas, Ciro finally saw how in love his sister was with this Tucker man. He gave his approval of their love one morning at our usual family breakfast. We were all pleased to hear that he approved of Azura’s new love interest.

She’s a good caretaker for her lovely family, and she looks so classy. :-) Wonderfully-written update — all of the national details and insight of the narrator make for a very enjoyable read. I hope you’re having as much fun playing as we’re having reading your stories! :-D
