Mayfield: A Saga

Dinner, Yet so Much More

Ellie had always prided herself in her uncanny ability to read the mind of others. She often knew what emotions were taking hold, and what reaction to expect. But for the first time in her life, this 6th sense failed her. She had no idea what Edward Remmington was thinking behind those beautiful light green eyes. But one thing she was sure of, he was regarding her with an intensity unlike any she’d ever felt. She’d tried to read the look in his eyes, but he seemed to have walls around his being that had taken years in the making.

It was both a blessing and a curse when Mr. Remmington Sr. broke the intense silence. “Well now, son. I expect our little angel is awaiting her nightly bedtime story. We don’t want to keep her waiting, eh?!”

Edward’s gaze finally broke free from Ellie, as he turned his head to look at his father. It took a moment to come back from the place his memories had taken him. “Yes, of course Father,” he said, fighting his eyes to not look at the beautiful woman standing in front of him again. She brought back such strong memories of the past, and he needed to stay in the present.

“Miss Brown and I shall await you in the parlor. You are just in time for dinner, and I am positive that Martha will not mind setting an extra place!” Albus Remmington said, his usual jovial tone returning once more.

“Very well…Father, Miss Brown,” Edward said as he made a slight bow to Ellie, catching her eye once again.

For some strange reason, Ellie wanted to reach out and take hold of his arm. She didn’t want him to go. Something about him was calling to her. She wasn’t sure what it was, but when she looked into his eyes, or heard his deep manly voice, she felt a burning sensation rise through her entire body. As Edward walked up the stairs to his daughter’s bedroom, Ellie let Mr. Remmington lead her to the parlor, even though her gaze followed Edward.

  5. Hehehe, thanks Jeanne! This story, in all honesty, actually started out as an idea I have for a book that I want to write. Maybe someday I’ll get along to actually writing it!

  6. Like i have been for the past couple of months on everyone’s blog..I HATE love storys, but somehow, the sims love stories are ok.And i love this story. You are a GREAT writer. You should write that book. As a matter of fact. Start writing now haha jk. But yes, i think you should go for the goal. The beginning of the story is a great way to begin it and it actaully reminds me of a book. So yes i fully back up your notion to write the book.

  7. Awww, thanks Eva! The more of these little updates I write, the more I actually want to sit down and start writing it. Maybe I will. I always have this huge urge to make these posts so much more in depth, but there’s only so much a sim can do! Maybe I will start writing it… :)

  8. Wonderful update, Paige! It makes me really miss my Victorian Simmies (even though I still play them once in awhile!). Awesome job with the photos; you do have a keen eye for detail. That necklace Ellie is wearing is gorgeous, the way it sparkles — where did you get it? Looking forward to the next update!
