Sheehan — Chapter 1

Lookin’ back now, I probably should have waited a little while to get to know her better before poppin’ the question..but hindsight is always 20/20 I guess. The next day we had an impromptu wedding and an even quicker honeymoon. Then it was back to the normal routine. And I was shocked, and horrified, at what her normal routine was….Even though I had been trying so hard to stay away from Mr. Parson’s and his gang of illegal misfits, I seemed to have married right into their big criminal family. Mallory was one of Mr. Parson’s greatest masterminds. I was crushed.

I wanted a divorce right away. But I didn’t want to put me kids through that pain. They really like Mallory, and in truth, so did I. So, I tried to see if we could work it out. Turns out, I didn’t have a choice. A couple of months later, Mallory announced to us all that she was pregnant. We were havin a baby. I should have been overjoyed at the news of my fourth child, but somehow I just felt trapped. I didn’t want my kids growin up around a criminal, and I didn’t want me wife in the middle of that dangerous circuit. But I truly loved Mallory, and I quickly warmed to the idea of having a baby in my arms once again, so I tried to carry on family life as usual.

For all me talkin, Mallory wouldn’t listen to a word. She said she didn’t want to make a drastic career change at this time in her life, and she was worried about what Mr. Parson’s would do. He wasn’t the kind of man you could just walk away from. But in the end, it was Dowe that changed her mind. He pulled her aside one night and convinced her to leave the business. He made her realize that it wasn’t right to raise children in the life of crime, and Mallory finally agreed that she needed to get back on the right track. She told Mr. Parsons that she was leaving the “company” due to her pregnancy and upcoming motherhood, but it seemed he didn’t take the news to well. What this town needs is a Captain Hero, to protect families like us who are just tryin’ to live their lives the right way. Now I know how Jomo feels, havin’ to always look over his shoulder. But for now, we’re happy and Mallory is finally out of crime’s grasp.

Not too long after her “retirement”, Mallory finally went into labor! It was a long and painful labor for her, it was her first child after all. But both mother and baby came through the ordeal just fine, and we welcomed little Shannon into our family. That’s right, we had a girl!

Meara was so happy to finally have another girl in the family, and I think the boys were happy to have another sister. I know Mallory was excited to have a daughter of her very own, even though she loved Meara very much. Our little Shannon is the spitting image of her ol’ Pa. She inherited that bright red Irish hair and the Sheehan eyes too! She’s such a lively little baby, and she’s me pride and joy.

Now the house is filled with all the sounds of a healthy and happy baby girl! We’re all so happy to have little Shannon with us. With all the excitement of a new baby, I didn’t notice one small thing. Vyn was calling me again. I came in the kitchen one day to find my kids huddled together whispering about something. Then I heard the name “Vyn Kimbrell” whispered. I asked ‘em what they were gossipin’ about, and they told me. Vyn had been callin’ two or three times a day! That woman is so persistant. But I must say, she is rather seductive and mysterious. My skin tingles just thinkin’ about the days (and nights) we spent together. Maybe I’ll call her and just see what she wants…it would be nice to talk to her again.

Oh would’ya look at the time! Sorry to have kept ya so long! Hope I didn’t put ya to sleep with me ramblin’s about love and crime! Until next time, friend! And if ya happen to run into Kin Akunaga or Reginald Parsons…don’t mention me name!
